About
As you can see in my profile, I have stated that "Nature" is my favourite artist. In fact I have never seen any painting by any artist which reaches the level of beauty that nature produces. You might not see it at once, but when you train your eyes, you discover more and more of this beauty.
Many artists nowadays seem to think that their fantasy is enough to create paintings for the rest of their lives. I don't agree with that. I find for myself that I always need to refresh my visual memory and my fantasy with trips into nature.
This is why I travel often and sketch outside, the main benefit not being the sketches themselves, but the quantity of lines, forms and colours which get automatically saved in my brain, ready to pop up when I need them for any fantasy painting.
But of course, the travel sketches as themselves are lovely "by-products", many people even think that they are more attractive than normal paintings, due to their spontaneity and lightness of touch. (I am one of them!) I invite everybody from around this great easel that we have here, to sketch outside, from nature, and exhibit here the results. It can be from across the street, or from the other side of your world.
And it would be nice, if members would post a sketch, to tell us where it was done. We humans have the basic need to know where is what! ;)

by Miki 1 month agoHi Helga
Once upon a time I lived in Germany... manu many years... unfortunately i forgot how to speak German, and I am quite upset about it, as I love the German language...
I was in Salzburg, in a wonderful Cafe where I had my first Apfelstrudel (will never forget that yummy moment!) and I learned skiing in Obertauern... I was in some other ski places too, but I forgot the names... I was also for business there, but I don;t remember where!
Und ich spielte auch golf in Oesterreich, aber ich habe vergessen wo genau.
I always loved to be in Austria, I found it very natural and relaxing and uncomplicated... -
by Helga Dee 1 month agoThank you both for your warm welcome. I hope to post a few more soon.
Where have you learned to speak german Miki? And where in Austria have you been. I live in the east near Vienna. -
