About

Christmas, how do YOU celebrate in your part of the world, images poetry, short stories accompanied with your painting would be great, but not compulsory !

Could be, you would like to paint a still life of your Christmas baubles, for eg the picture in the group header was part of my mantelpiece decor last year...or the scenery around you at Christmas time..anything in fact to do with the season of goodwill !

It will be great to hear about traditions from different parts of the world.

so get your brushes wet and have a happy Christmas !!!!

Christmas in the little village of Stara Rise in the Czech Republic.

    Welcome to the Krenek family

We like old customs of Christmas Eve.
We buy a little spruce at Christmas. My husband George and children – a son Vojta, daughters Veronika and Michaela decorate it in the morning on Christmas Eve. A star is at the top of the tree and they hang up many other decorations of many shapes and colors . Candels cannot miss there. They put a nativity scene under the tree.
In the morning we do not eat much because we hold little fasting from meal. Normally we have lunch at about 12 o´clock, but this day we have our main meal at about five p.m.
We invite our uncle Gabriel and my mother for supper because they have lived alone at their houses yet. .
Before supper my husband read text of Bible about the Nativity – the main reason of celebration for our family.
Our typical Christmas supper is fry steak and potatoes salad. Many families eat a fry carp for supper, but we do not like it because of its many bones.
Of course. We have many sweets too that we baked. We drink juice, glasses of beer, a cups of coffee or tea.
After supper I put all presents that we bought before under the tree and light candels on the tree and ring the little bell. It means everybody can come to the Christmas tree. First we pray, sing carols, my husband also play the guitar, Michaela and I play the violines. So we thank for coming of Jesus and everything what we have got. After it everybody unpack presents and talk.
My husband is a leader of a chapel choir, so he leaves our house one hour before a mass to meet other singers. All of us go to the church. The mass usually starts at 10 p.m. Everybody can see a live nativity sceene opposite the church and listen to carols.
The weather at Christmas is different, but often is snowy and frosty, everything is white with ylellow and orange light of street lamps.

    Have a great Christmas. Magda
