Art Auctions onEbay

By Adrian
Art Auctions on eBay

A few days ago, I was looking at art auctions on eBay  I have found some wonderful things.  I browsed the Art category and chose the subcategory of self-representing artists.

Art auctions on eBay are a great way for an unknown or even a known artist to sell their paintings.  I found some nice paintings in the featured section.

Since I was looking at art auctions on eBay, I used the option to just view the picture gallery.  I’m glad I did that because I really just wanted to see the art, not the title of the auction.  What immediately caught my eye was all of the bold colors.

On the first page of image results of art auctions on eBay, there was a beautiful painting of a martini.  I think that martini images seem very classy to me.  I can visualize this painting in the home of someone with a glass coffee table and a leather couch!

The virtual foot traffic that art auctions on eBay gets is incredible.  The artist can get so much more exposure to so many more people than hanging their paintings in galleries.  It is just such a good way to get discovered.

2011 Turner Prize: The places that inspired Coventry artist George Shaw Read More http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventr

By Adrian
As a 15-year-old living in a post-war council house in Coventry, George Shaw was hungry to make an impression on the art world – at the age of 45 his dream has come true. He is one of four UK artists nominated for the 2011 Turner Prize. The nomination coincides with the opening of George’s homecoming exhibition, I woz ere, at The Herbert Gallery in Coventry – a collection of his nostalgic Tile Hill paintings, new watercolours, and early works of art. By Adrian

ART GONE POSTAL

How does art go postal?, you ask?

1. Make or collect some art.
2. Put a stamp on it.
3. Drop it in the mail.
4. Send it to the Envelope Collective.

What is Envelope Collective? It is an online art gallery of everything sent
to the collective by mail.

All submissions are summarily photographed by curators Garrett, Adam, and Ophelia, and catalogued in their ever exanding archives (currently 797 submissions and growing).

The gallery now includes a huge array of artfully mutated envelopes, as well as a few other items, such as ketchup, macaroni & cheese, throw pillows and toast!

The Art of Paul Cummings

By Adrian

Interesting article sent my way.
...........................................................................................
The Art of Paul Cummings

This is NOT about the well-established digital artist who works for Saatchi, called Paul Cummings. Find him everywhere elsewhere. We don’t know him.

This post is all about another Paul Cummings, who we met in Avebury at midsummer last year.

HMP by Paul Cummings

HMP by Paul Cummings - Chalk Pastel 835x595 mm

“You reckon that’s pacified your Gods? Cos it ain’t pacified mine”.

When we met him, Paul was a wild fellow, fresh from HMP, with head shaven and eyes-dark, dancing and roaring beside the fire. See him here.

Once he’d stopped trying to fight us, Paul became quite charming, and we enjoyed each anothers’ company greatly. He told us how hard it was to make art in prison, with no paint, and how he learned to use coffee granules, cigarette ash, jam and silver foil for his paintings.

10 Common PR Mistakes

By Adrian
The internet and specifically networking platforms, have made PR very easy and accessable.  Social networks are a fun way to get your message across but underneath the fun, there does need to be a very structured campaign.

Here are 10 of the most common mistakes made by companies and individuals.

1. Believing that a press release will turn you into a ‘media darling’

most Press Releases are read and forgotten

2. Not dedicating time and backup to a structured PR plan

Whilst a feature in a daily newspaper will add some value to your marketing it will not necessarily convert into footfall, without a supporting strategy

3. Not telling people you are an authority in your field

Tell potential clients and media what you know, can you help a journalist pad out a breaking news story?

4.  Not creating regular newsworthy content for release or for website/blog

keep supplying interesting facts, elevate your 'guru' status

5.  Not investing time in research and using it

who are your target audience? which media do they use? how would they find you?

6.  Forgetting to add a call to action to your communications

when telling people what you know, Tell them how that knowledge can enhance their lives

7.  Not being aware of your competitors

be your own secret shopper, what could you be doing better?

8.  Not reflecting your brand

very often you are your brand, be careful how you interract

9.  Using Jargon

If your client was an expert they wouldnt need you and journalists need it short and to the point

10. not asking for help

We all need help, most often good professional help will pay for its self

Who, What, Why: How do you graffiti-proof public art?

By Adrian

From todays BBC

Spray can Graffiti may be art to some, but it is seen as a nuisance by others

A landmark sculpture project is at risk because of spiralling costs - including the budget for keeping it graffiti-free. How do you protect public artworks from vandals?

It was meant to be a towering monument - a 50m (164ft) white horse in the fields of Kent greeting Eurostar passengers to England. But now sculptor Mark Wallinger's so-called "Angel of the South" project is at risk because of rising costs ....CONTINUE READING

What I know about tweeting

By Adrian

Make Every Tweet Count

One of the continuing questions in marketing and public relations is how to use Twitter to its fullest and with a big return-on-investment. Twitter is a free micro blogging service, but it does take time to use.

One technique is to make every tweet count by keeping tweets a value add. Keep the tweet to the point and forget about letting followers know every last detail of the day.

Tweeting with Value Adds

Make it worth the follower’s time to follow and read the posts. Some value add ideas for tweets:

· Provide bits of research about products, services or industry news.
· Ask a compelling question that others can post answers and possible re-tweet to other tweet lines.
· When others post questions, try to find the answers and become the go to Twitter person.
· Always focus on posts that can benefit the readers in some ways such as letting them know about special events, current events, news, special pricing, etc.

By Adrian

Did you know you can...

Grow your twitter following
Grow your facebook page likes
Grow your youtube viewings

all in one place.

Twiends provides introductions to people looking for friends and followers. We use seeds to create the incentive for people to check each other out. When you follow someone they give you seeds, and vica versa when they follow you. You can decide how many seeds you want to offer per follow, and when you run out you remain on the list so people can still follow you if they like. We focusing on making the introduction, and you focus on deciding who you want to be friends with in the long run. We are not a "get followers fast" site or a follower train. You get to choose who you friend and they get to do the same. In saying that though, you will find that a lot people will follow you because you are on the site. Our focus is community building
