in the process of doing this for a present for friend...i am
tempted to black the background ..but then i may loose the bowler
hats? its a sketch on watercolour paper done with a felt tip pen
and a water soluble pen .
Hi Jean. Leave it as it is! I am trying out 'ink sketches' by using
a small twig and inserting a pointed match stick in a hole at the
top (bit confusing!). I use black indian ink. Will attach a sketch
I did with watercolour. Certainly sharpens the image!
Jean this is gorgeous! I would not make the background dark, but it
does look a little empty. You see, you could leave it a and put a
really stunning frame on the picture when you frame it and then
nothing bill be necessarily.
Alternatively; have you considered a light colored wash? It need
not be an even wash; your focus should remain on the men.
I think you have done a magnificent job! I really, really love this
style of painting. It is beautiful and something that i would
definitely hang in my house. Let us know what you do and don't for
get to post an updated photo. xxx
I agree with Jax and Jon (the names make a great couple, don't
they? :-)
Wonderful painting and technique.
I would also leave it as it is. No black background. Just fab as it
is!!!
Just an idea, but you could edit the photo in paint shop and see
what it would roughly look like with the bowlers left as they are,
or filled in. I would have thought its finshed, be interseted to
hear what others think.
