About
I was born 8 Jan. 1966. In my twenties I earned a degree, B.A. Communications from Potchefstroom University, and travelled. North Africa, USA- most of the states, especially Native American origins and worked in unsuited "careers". I went sailing in 1999 to the Caribbean, Bahamas, again USA and returned with a small family in 2003. I have been professional since 2004 as a painter and has exhibited mostly in South Africa. My paintings are exhibited in private collections internationally and locally. It is a daily obsession to paint and make time to paint, and be wife and mother of many. That includes kids and a zoo of pets. (dogs and cats and hamsters) I am now a country girl through and through and enjoy an unrushed lifestyle with lots of freedom and no strings that bind me. Especially financial ones. Freedom is more important than owing lots....not earning ... owing... I am intrigued by people and
the beauty of simple things. Peeling potatoes, reading a book, and just staring.... or listening to another person... I paint that.. oh and dancing and gathering round tables ....
2010 - KKNK at Art Karoo
2010 - Nostalgia Exhibition- Great Brak,
2009- Two Woman exhibition at Alice Art Galleries in Jhb, with Jonel Scholz
Works presently exhibited at Alice Art Harties, and galleries in Franschoek, George, Oudtshoorn, Great Brak, Hermanus

Jon HARRY commented on Marittie de Villiers's picture.Like all your figurative work. I am traditionalist but trying to change and paint local characters in the fishing community where I live. Not sure what medium you work in. I am a watercolourist
